Doors Open Across New England

FAB26, a week-long international gathering focused on how advanced technology activates and empowers
communities around the world, culminates with the Fab Festival Boston, a free public day of making.
The Fab Festival will take place Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at partner venues
throughout Greater Boston and New England.
Labs, museums, schools and makerspaces from Boston, Cambridge, Somerville and beyond will host
workshops, tours and demos from 10 AM to 7 PM.
After a week of keynotes, workshops, and symposium sessions on the MIT campus, FAB26 turns outward. The
Fab Festival is a distributed event. Rather than one venue, dozens of participating labs, makerspaces,
museums, schools, and community organizations open their doors on the same day, each hosting its own
program of workshops, lab tours, talks, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
More than 2,000 participants are anticipated, drawn from FAB26's international delegation of makers from over 150 countries and from the surrounding Boston, Cambridge and Somerville communities.
The festival is designed for the curious as much as the credentialed: families, students, educators, and first-time visitors can walk into a working digital fabrication lab, meet the people who run it, and make something.
The Fab Festival closes a week that marked 25 years of the Fab Lab Network, which grew from a single
experimental lab in 2001 to more than 3,000 labs in 150 countries today - a movement that began at MIT´s
Center for Bits and Atoms, minutes from the festival´s Cambridge venues.
