Why is it called a Charlie Card?

*Ride shares like Uber or Lyft can be convenient, but Boston traffic is notoriously bad. Please give yourself plenty of time if traveling by car!

*Get out of the city with the Commuter Rail or MBTA Ferry! Visit Concord, Salem, Providence, or the South Shore.

Public Transportation

Logan Airport is easily accessible through the MBTA Blue Line (connections to Boston through Government Center) and the MBTA Silver Line (connections to Boston through Seaport and South Station).

The SL1 Silver Line route drops off and picks up at every terminal at Logan. The Blue Line drops off and picks up at the Airport T stop. Shuttle buses run between the different terminals, parking lots, and the Airport T stop.

Uber and Lyft

Ride Shares pick up at two designated areas at Boston Logan - Central Parking for Terminals A, C, and E and Terminal B. Getting to the Ride Share pick up location may require going up to the departures level, crossing a sky bridge to the parking terminal, and taking the elevator down to the first level.

Logan Express

The Logan Express is a bus line that connects Logan Airport to Downtown Boston and other suburban locations. There are two stops in Back Bay (the Prudential Center and Copley Place/Back Bay T Station).

The Logan Express runs every 30 minutes, 7 days a week, and drops off / picks up at every airport terminal. Travel from the Airport to Boston is free, while travel from Boston to the Airport is only $3.00 US.

MBTA Red Line Closures

The MBTA Red Line will be closed between Alewife and Park Street from Tuesday, July 21 through Thursday, July 30. The Kendall Square stop, which serves many of the Fab26 event sites, is impacted by this closure.

What are the best options for getting around?

1. Free and accessible shuttle buses will replace the subway between Alewife and Park Street, with additional express service between Harvard Square and South Station. The shuttle stop may be in a slightly different location than the T stop, but MBTA staff will be around to direct you to the right spot. Shuttles run frequently but Boston traffic can be very heavy. Please give yourself plenty of extra time to get to Kendall if you plan to take the shuttle!

2. Several bus routes run through or close to Kendall Square - 1, 85, 64, 68, 69, 83, and 91. Additionally, riders can use Bus Routes 69, 87, 88, 89, 91, and 109 from Davis Square, Harvard Square, and Central Square to connect with the Green Line’s Medford/Tufts and Union Square branches at Lechmere Station. Lechmere is roughly a 30 minute walk to Kresge Auditorium.

3. The Fitchburg line of the MBTA Commuter Rail has stops at Porter Square and North Station, and service between these stops is free during the Red Line closure. Charles River TMA runs an EZRide shuttle between North Station and Kendall Square - you can find the schedule here.

4. Use a Bluebike! There is an extensive, interconnected network of bike paths across Boston and Cambridge. Bluebikes offer a convenient (and cheap!) option for getting around.

Museum of Science

A Boston institution, the Museum of Science is a 30 minute walk from FAB26 venues. Green Line - Lechmere or Science Park/West End

The Freedom Trail

This iconic brick (... sometimes red paint) trail stretches 2.5 miles and connects 16 historic Boston sites, including the Old North Church, Paul Revere's house, and Faneuil (Fan-yul) Hall. **Red Line - Park Street, Orange Line - Haymarket, or Blue Line - Aquarium **

MFA and ISG

The MFA (Museum of Fine Arts) and the ISG (Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum) are world-class art galleries and next-door-neighbors! The Isabella Stewart Gardner was victim of a famous art heist in 1990 - you can still see the empty frames today. Green Line - Museum of Fine Arts

Fenway Park

Home of the Boston Red Sox (booooo Yankees)! Fenway is America's oldest ballpark still in operation today, and home to the world-famous Green Monstah!

Charles River Esplanade

Cross Commonwealth Bridge and head over to the river for one of the loveliest walks in Boston. Cross back to Cambridge over MIT Bridge and see how you measure against our favorite unit of length, the Smoot. You can also rent paddle boards or kayaks at Community Boating, Inc. and enjoy the Charles River.

Central Square

Just one T stop away on the Red Line or a 10-15 minute walk from Kendall, Central Square is home to a number of restaurants, live music venues, and bars. Central is an excellent place to unwind after a day at FAB26!

Harvard Square

Home to Cambridge's other famous university. Visit the famous Harvard Yard (no parking allowed!), or take in some of the best museums in the area. The Natural History Museum is famous for its collection of hand-blown glass flower models, and the Fogg Art Museum is free seven days a week.

Davis Square

While technically in the neighboring city of Somerville, Davis Square has a number of restaurants and bars, as well as one of the best independent movie theaters in the city. Irish pub "The Burren" is one of the most active live music venues around!
